Billy's Got A Brand New Band

We've all known the several styles of music profiles that ZZ Top has provided over the decades. Billy Gibbons has enriched the performance with to sound that reaches into the soul of Cuba. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has gone solo... for the moment. Backed by a group of musicians he calls The BFG’s (Billy Frederick Gibbons), he explores Afro-Cuban music, which he embraced at a young age, having been taught Latin percussion by the late Tito Puente, who was a friend of his father's. The album got its start in 2014, when Gibbons was invited to perform at the Havana Jazz Festival. He was unable to make it to Cuba, but started to think about recording some Latin-influenced songs. The collection includes originals as well as rearranged versions of such blues classics as Slim Harpo’s "Got Love If You Want It” and Lightnin’ Hopkins' “Baby, Please Don’t Go.” Gibbons will start a tour in support of the album on November 27th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
