Creed have been named the worst band of the 1990s by readers of Rolling Stone magazine. They lead a top-ten also featuring Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Hanson, and – surprisingly to Rolling Stone themselves – Nirvana. Creed were formed in 1995 by frontman Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. They released three albums before splitting in 2004, and became Alter Bridge with Miles Kennedy in Stapp’s place. They reunited in 2009, but Tremonti’s recent self-titled solo band and Kennedy’s work with Slash have been generally more warmly welcomed than anything by the original outfits.
