David Gilmour Rattle That Lock

We're another day closer to Rattle That Lock from David Gilmour. Today he gives you a sneak peek as to what's inside the sleeve while unveiling the novelist responsible for inspiring the lyrics. Rattle That Lock drops on September 18. David Gilmour was inspired to write the title track for his new album, Rattle That Lock, after hearing the jingle that introduces the announcements at the SNCF railway stations in France. He recorded the announcement on his iPhone and when he realized he wanted to use the jingle's four notes, he set about finding who created them. That person is Michael Boumendil, who now has a writing credit on the song. The song's other co-writer is Gilmour's wife, novelist Polly Samson, who says her lyrics were inspired by "Book 2" of John Milton’s Paradise Lost, which is also featured in her recent novel, The Kindness. The song is available digitally today (Friday) and the album comes out on September 18th.
